The word “chiropractic” comes from the Greek words cheir (hands) and praxis (practice). As the name suggests, it is a hands-on therapy. Chiropractic manipulation is the application of pressure to a person’s spine or other parts of their body by a qualified chiropractic doctor. This pressure allows a chiropractor to adjust and correct alignment. Chiropractic manipulation aims to reduce pain and improve mechanical function, or the way a person moves.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy (PT), also known as physiotherapy, is one of the complimentary health professions that uses mobilization and electrical agents to treat acute or chronic pain, movement and physical impairments resulting from injury, trauma, and illness. Physical therapy is used to improve patient’s physical functions through physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, physical intervention, rehabilitation and disease prevention. It is practiced by physical therapists (also known as physiotherapists).
Thai Traditional Medicine
Traditional Thai medicine stems from pre-historic indigenous regional practices with a strong animistic foundation: animistic traditions of the Mon and Khmer peoples who occupied the region prior to the migration of the Thai medicine and animistic knowledge, Indian medical knowledge coming through the Khmer peoples, Buddhist medical knowledge via the Mon peoples, and Chinese medical knowledge with the migration of the Thais who came largely from southern China.
